Liver cancer is the 3rd most common cause of cancer-related death worldwide. Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC), the most common type of primary liver cancer in adults, occurs more often in men than women and is often diagnosed in people aged 50 or older. Liver cancer remains a difficult-to treat disease with sub-optimal patient diagnosis and poor patient survival mainly due to the lack of well-structured national screening programme, advanced stage of tumours at diagnosis, and the lack of approved novel therapies. The mission of the Comprehensive Liver Cancer Care Programme at VPS Lakeshore, Kochi is to develop a multi-disciplinary program focused on the prevention, early detection, improved diagnosis and treatment of liver cancer. Our team includes highly talented and experienced liver surgery team, oncologists, interventional radiologist, radiotherapists, hepatologist, and patient and family supporting team.
